Job Overview:

The Risk Director will spearhead the development and implementation of a comprehensive risk management strategy, encompassing credit, operational, and regulatory domains.

This leadership role demands a strategic mindset, strong analytical skills, and an in-depth understanding of the NBFC and Banking sector and regulatory landscape in India.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced risk management leader, capable of managing and mitigating risks in alignment with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and customer impact.

  • Establishing a robust risk management framework that aligns with business goals, regulatory requirements, and market conditions is essential.
  • Active oversight of risk identification, assessment, and mitigation strategies across credit, operational, and compliance risks through policies and frameworks is required.
  • Monitoring emerging credit risks such as identity fraud and recommending proactive measures is crucial.
  • Effective and continuous portfolio monitoring, stress testing, and expected credit loss forecasting, as well as managing potential default risks, are key responsibilities.
  • Utilizing data analytics, AI, and machine learning tools to enhance data insights for risk control, providing inputs to improve risk modeling, fraud detection, and early-warning systems is beneficial.
  • Preparing and presenting regular risk reports to senior management and stakeholders, providing insights into portfolio performance, emerging risks, and key risk indicators, is necessary.
  • Fostering a risk-aware culture across the organization through training and risk management education for employees and other stakeholders is vital.

Requirements:

  • A Master's degree in finance, economics, risk management, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 12 years of experience in risk management, ideally in the NBFC, banking, or financial services sector, with at least 3 years in a leadership role, is necessary.
  • Strong knowledge of credit and financial risk, operational risk in the context of an NBFC; familiarity with RBI regulations is essential.
  • Sectoral understanding of financial institutions and strong ability to interpret financial trends is crucial.
  • Proficiency in risk management and data analytics tools, ideally including Python and SQL, is beneficial.
  • Demonstrated resilience – strong runs with companies and experience in efficient risk management while taking businesses to scale – is vital.
