The role focuses on helping businesses comply with the Australian Government Information Security Manual (ISM), Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF), ASD Essential Eight, and international security compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Security Implementation & Compliance
  • Assist organizations in implementing security controls aligned with the Australian Government ISM, PSPF, ASD Essential Eight, and SOC 2 requirements.
  • Guide organizations through IRAP assessments, SOC 2 compliance, and certification processes.
  • Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and risk frameworks to meet compliance standards.
  • Conduct security gap assessments and implement security improvements for SOC 2 Trust Service Criteria.

Risk Management & Assurance

  • Perform risk assessments and threat modeling to identify vulnerabilities in systems and networks.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to address compliance gaps in government and cloud security environments.
  • Work with IT and security teams to enhance cybersecurity controls and resilience.
  • Provide security assurance and ongoing compliance monitoring for Australian government and SOC 2 frameworks.

Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure organizations align with IRAP, ISM, PSPF, SOC 2, and ISO 27001 compliance requirements.
  • Assist with third-party risk management, cloud security assessments, and governance frameworks.
  • Work closely with government agencies, cloud service providers, and compliance officers to meet regulatory expectations.
  • Prepare and review security documentation, audit reports, and compliance evidence for IRAP, SOC 2, and ISO 27001 audits.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of Australian Government ISM, PSPF, ASD Essential Eight, and SOC 2 Trust Service Criteria.
  • Experience in security assessments, risk management, cloud security, and compliance frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience in SOC 2 readiness, audit preparation, and control implementation.
  • Knowledge of IRAP, SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST 800-53, PCI DSS, and other relevant security frameworks.
  • Proficiency in GRC tools and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Experience in cybersecurity audits, vendor risk management, and third-party compliance assessments.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Risk Management, or a related field.
  • 3-7 years of experience in cybersecurity, risk management, compliance, or security consulting.
  • Certification in IRAP (preferred) or other relevant security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CRISC, ISO 27001 Lead Auditor, CCSK, or SOC 2-related certifications.
