Director of Sports

The Director – Sports will lead the development and implementation of sports programs, physical education, and wellness initiatives across the institution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a comprehensive vision for the sports department and implement strategies to achieve its goals.
  • Oversee sports programs, inter-collegiate tournaments, training camps, and physical education curriculum to promote student and staff participation in sports.
  • Manage sports facilities, gymnasiums, and grounds to ensure proper maintenance and utilization.
  • Mentor talented athletes to represent the institution at various levels.
  • Cultivate a culture of fitness and sportsmanship by collaborating with coaches, trainers, and faculty.
  • Organize workshops, seminars, and awareness campaigns on health, fitness, and sports to promote holistic well-being.
  • Evaluate the performance of sports coaches and staff to ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote ethical sports practices.
  • Formulate and implement sports and physical education policies as per national norms.
  • Identify and groom talented sportspersons to represent the institution at zonal, national, and international levels.
  • Liaise with sports councils, federations, and national bodies for collaboration and participation.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A Ph.D. in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in sports administration, coaching, or sports management is necessary.
  • A proven track record of managing large-scale sports events and teams is essential.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills are necessary.
  • A knowledge of modern training methods, sports technology, and performance analytics is beneficial.
  • A record of representing the university/college at inter-university / inter-collegiate competitions or the State and/or National championships is desirable.
  • A knowledge of national sports policies is essential.
