Printed Circuit Board Design Engineer

The primary function of this role is to design and develop printed circuit boards (PCBs) utilizing computer-aided design (CAD) tools. Our ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of CAD software, including Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, Mentor Graphics Expedition, and OrCAD/Capture CIS.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain PCB CAD libraries by creating schematic symbols, footprints, and parametric data.
  • Generate accurate and reliable footprints for surface-mount devices (SMD), through-hole technology (THT), connectors, and complex IC packages as per IPC-7351 standards.
  • Validate bills of materials (BOMs), electrical attributes, package information, and component descriptions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Cross-check datasheets, schematics, and footprints to guarantee accuracy in pin sequencing and package details.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design engineers, manufacturing teams, and suppliers, to ensure manufacturability and compliance.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation, adhere to standard naming conventions, and ensure seamless library integration with electronic computer-aided design (ECAD)/mechanical computer-aided design (MCAD) tools.
Required Skills & Tools:
  • CAD software: Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, Mentor Graphics Expedition, OrCAD/Capture CIS.
  • Product lifecycle management (PLM) systems: Windchill, Target PLM, Teamcenter, Cockpit Server.
  • Standards and compliance:
    • IPC-7351 for footprint creation and validation.
    • Understanding of RoHS and REACH compliance.
  • Library management:
    • Creation and maintenance of schematic symbols, footprints, and 3D models.
    • BOM validation and part numbering systems.
    • Utilization of footprint calculators like LP Wizard and Footprint Expert.
