Linux System Administrator Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive system administrator with 4-5 years of experience in managing enterprise-grade Linux servers and environments.

  • Manage, configure, and monitor Linux-based systems (bare metal, virtualized, and cloud instances)
  • Ensure system uptime, performance, and security through routine maintenance and hardening practices
  • Automate repetitive tasks using Bash, Python, Ansible, or similar tools
  • Handle patch management, software upgrades, and kernel tuning
  • Setup and manage services like Apache/Nginx, MySQL/PostgreSQL, DNS, DHCP, SSH, NFS, etc.
  • Implement and monitor system backups, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures
  • Monitor logs and system health (using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix, Nagios)
  • Collaborate with DevOps and development teams for CI/CD integration and container support (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Apply security best practices (SELinux, firewall rules, fail2ban, auditing tools)
  • Support in incident response and RCA (Root Cause Analysis) for system failures
  • Participate in on-call support rotation if needed

Required skills include:

  • Strong knowledge of Linux systems and their administration
  • Proficiency in Bash, Python, Ansible, and other scripting languages
  • Experience with configuration management tools like Puppet or Chef
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and Zabbix
  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes
