Job Title: Design Engineer

About the Role:

  • Create 3D models and detailed engineering drawings using computer-aided design software.
  • Design part models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings with a focus on mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Interpret engineering sketches and specifications to produce accurate and efficient designs.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other designers to ensure design intent and project requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Perform design checks, tolerance analysis, and ensure manufacturability of components.
  2. Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback into models and drawings.
  3. Maintain drawing standards and ensure compliance with project and industry codes.
  4. Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams to integrate mechanical designs with structural, piping, and electrical systems.
  5. Support the preparation of BOMs (Bill of Materials), fabrication drawings, and technical documentation.
  6. Assist in the development of design automation tools and templates within CAD software.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Mechanical or Production Engineering with 3 to 7 years of experience.
  • Proficient in CAD software, data management systems, and version control practices.
  • Experience in designing mechanical systems, equipment layouts, and fabrication drawings.
  • Familiarity with international design standards and codes (ASME, ISO, DIN, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, material selection, and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple design tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience in working on multidisciplinary projects in sectors like Mining, Chemical, or Industrial Plants.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with simulation tools for basic FEA.
  • Exposure to Plant 3D, Navisworks, or other Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools is a plus.
  • Familiarity with piping and structural interfaces in mechanical design.
  • The ability to automate repetitive design tasks using iLogic or scripting within CAD software.
