Position Overview:

We seek an experienced Aviation Powerplant Technical Lead to manage and oversee the comprehensive maintenance and management of our client's aircraft engine fleet. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, extensive experience in powerplant engineering, and the ability to provide strategic support and technical guidance.

Fleet Management Responsibilities:

Fleet Overview

The Aviation Powerplant Technical Lead will oversee all aspects of aircraft engine fleet management and associated activities. This includes ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of the fleet to meet the highest standards of safety and performance.

Technical Review

The successful candidate will review Service Bulletins and Airworthiness Directives for Engines, Auxiliary Power Units (APUs), and Nacelles to ensure compliance and implement necessary updates.

Implementation Oversight

They will supervise implementation programs for modifications to Engines, APUs, Nacelles, and accessory parts, ensuring timely and cost-effective execution.

Maintenance Support

The Aviation Powerplant Technical Lead will provide technical support to Line and Heavy Maintenance teams, facilitating seamless communication and coordination.

Reliability Studies

They will support and conduct reliability studies to enhance engine performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions.

Engine Health Monitoring

The successful candidate will control and oversee Engine Health Monitoring (EHM) systems, ensuring accurate data collection and analysis.

OEM Liaison

They will collaborate with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to resolve reliability and technical issues, fostering strong relationships and driving business growth.

Documentation

The Aviation Powerplant Technical Lead will generate and manage operator documents, including MEL Technical Notices, Procedure Notices, Engineering orders, and reports, maintaining accurate records and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Lease Management

They will provide technical support for aircraft lease reception and returns, ensuring smooth transitions and minimizing downtime.

Invoice Review

The successful candidate will scope work and review invoices for engine shop visits, verifying accuracy and ensuring cost-effectiveness.

Schedule Management

The Aviation Powerplant Technical Lead will manage Engine Shop visit schedules, costs, and relationships with Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) organizations, optimizing fleet utilization and reducing costs.

Strategic Support

They will represent the Powerplant department in meetings to support the company's strategic decision-making, providing valuable insights and expertise.

Continuous Improvement

The successful candidate will participate in continuous improvement and transformation projects as a representative for the Powerplant department, driving innovation and excellence.

Analysis

They will conduct in-depth analysis of Engine and APU Borescope Inspection (BSI) reports, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions.

Evaluation

The Aviation Powerplant Technical Lead will evaluate engines for lease or purchase based on documentation and checklists, making informed decisions that drive business growth.

Inspection

They will visit MRO facilities during engine shop visits for inspections after disassembly and at other required times, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.

Additional Duties

The successful candidate will perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, the ideal candidate must possess:

Degree

An Engineering Degree in a Technical Field (or equivalent experience)

Certification

Aircraft Maintenance Engineer certification with at least 10 years of direct experience with Engines/Powerplant systems

Experience Required

Minimum of 8 years in an Airline/Powerplant Engineering department

Competencies

Technical Knowledge

In-depth technical and commercial knowledge of engine fleet maintenance, repair, and management

Problem-Solving

Strong analytical skills to address and resolve technical issues

Communication

Excellent verbal and written communication skills to liaise with various stakeholders

Project Management

Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively

Team Collaboration

Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment

Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $180,000 per year
