SQL Database Administrator Role Overview

The ideal candidate for this role will possess strong technical skills and expertise in managing and supporting MS SQL Databases.

This is a critical position that requires a high level of technical proficiency, excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor database logs and event files to identify potential errors and incidents.
  • Implement database availability monitoring and replication strategies.
  • Monitor session, query, log, and latch activity to ensure optimal database performance.
  • Purge database logs and trace files to maintain data integrity.
  • Conduct periodic configuration reviews to maintain consistent configurations.
  • Develop and implement solutions to maintain high database availability.
  • Generate monthly reports on database availability and performance.
  • Respond to database-related incidents and drive corrective action.
  • Tune database parameters for optimal performance.
  • Correlate related incidents into problem tickets and manage through the problem management process.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Team Management experience is essential.
  • Handling major incidents and root cause analysis (RCA) is critical.
  • Database installation and troubleshooting expertise is mandatory.
  • Always ON Cluster configuration and management is essential.
  • Failover Cluster management is crucial.
  • Replication and Link Server configuration is necessary.
  • Database patching and hardening compliance is required.

The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of SQL databases, including installation, troubleshooting, and management.
