Senior Software Engineer Job

We are seeking an accomplished Senior Software Engineer to fill a pivotal role within our Edge Engineering team.

The Edge team is responsible for building and operating the infrastructure that resolves, routes, and delivers traffic between our users and the application layer.

We prioritize performance, security, and reliability.

About the Role

This position involves serving as a primary point of contact for the overall health, performance, and capacity of one or more Internet-facing services.

The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of complex applications and be able to assist in the roll-out and ramp up of new product features and technologies.

  • Serve as a primary point responsible for the overall health, performance, and capacity of one or more of our Internet-facing services
  • Gain deep knowledge of our complex applications
  • Assist in the roll-out and ramp up of new product features and technologies to facilitate our rapid iteration and constant growth
  • Develop tools to improve our ability to rapidly deploy and effectively monitor custom applications in a large-scale Linux environment
  • Function well in a fast-paced, rapidly-changing environment
  • Participate in a 24x7 rotation for second-tier escalations
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must have:

  • B.S. or higher in Computer Science or other technical discipline, or related practical experience
  • 5+ years experience with administration and troubleshooting of Unix/Linux systems
  • 5+ years experience coding in one or more programming languages like Rust, Go, Python, Perl, Ruby etc.
Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience in UNIX-based large-scale web operations roles and knowledge of DNS, TCP, TLS, HTTP would be advantageous.

  • 5+ years in a UNIX-based large-scale web operations role
  • Experience with .NET, C#, Android or iOS development
  • Experience in building systems automation and server backends with Python
  • Experience with writing scalable programs in Rust/Golang/Python
  • Previous experience working with geographically-distributed coworkers
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills (including listening, speaking, and writing) and ability to work well in a diverse, team-focused environment with Developers, SREs, Network Engineers, Product Managers, etc.
  • Knowledge of most of these: data structures, relational and non-relational databases, networking, Linux internals, filesystems, web architecture, and related topics
Suggested Skills

Familiarity with reverse proxies and CDNs, proficiency in Python or Golang would be beneficial.
