Staff Accountant Role

This role involves day-to-day accounting operations, including cash receipt processing, accounts payable and receivable management, payroll processing, and general ledger maintenance. The ideal candidate will have experience in private accounting and possess excellent organizational and communication skills.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Processing cash receipts and maintaining A/R subledger;
  • Processing cash disbursements and maintaining A/P subledger;
  • Payroll processing through payroll provider and accounting software;
  • Maintaining the general ledger;
  • Preparing cash, credit card, and other asset and liability account reconciliations, with supporting worksheets for each month end and year end;

Additionally, the selected candidate will provide other tasks assigned by their supervisor under their guidance.

Requirements

To be successful in this position, the candidate must meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in accounting or a related field, or similar training or on-the-job experience;
  • At least 3 years of experience in the job offered or as an accountant in private accounting;
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills;
  • Experience with accounting platforms such as QuickBooks, Microsoft GP, Sage Intacct, etc.;
  • Ability to work independently on tasks with some supervision;
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing priorities.
