Food Service Leader Role

The Food Service Leader is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a designated workstation, ensuring the preparation and presentation of high-quality food products. This role involves supervising and coordinating activities to meet the needs of various outlets, as per instructions from direct supervisors.

This position is an entry-level opportunity, typically found on smaller-scale establishments with limited guests and outlets. The successful candidate will be expected to perform duties in various food service venues and galleys throughout the ship.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure all tasks are carried out in accordance with standard operating procedures, adhering to Royal Caribbean International's guidelines and public health control plans.
  • Supervise assigned workstations, delegate tasks, and train employees to optimize efficiency and productivity.
  • Prepare and present food items according to established recipe standards.
  • Conduct inventory management, requisition supplies, and maintain equipment according to standard protocols.
Additional Duties
  1. Maintain a clean and safe working environment at all times.
  2. Attend meetings, training sessions, and courses as required.
  3. Develop expertise in handling AWP and vacuum infeed stations.
  4. Perform related duties as needed.
Essential Qualifications
  • 4-6 years of experience in upscale hotels, resorts, cruise ships, or convention banqueting services.
  • Prior experience as Chef De Partie/Demi Chef De Partie is advantageous.
  • Culinary school degree is mandatory.
  • Strong leadership skills, effective communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and interpersonal abilities are crucial.
  • Superior customer service, teambuilding, and conflict resolution skills are essential.
  • Knowledge of personalized service principles and intermediate computer software skills are necessary.
  • Basic accounting principles understanding is required.
