About the Role

The Siemens Energy team is seeking a highly skilled Engineering Project Manager Lead to join our team in Pune, India. As an Engineering Project Manager Lead, you will be responsible for coordinating and supervising engineering activities, minimizing risk-exposure, and creating opportunities to increase EBIT.

You will be responsible for the following:

  • Compliance, understanding, and clarifications of applicable parts of the contract (technical specifications and other relevant documentation)
  • Management, including coordination of appointed project team members
  • Ensuring that project execution is done in accordance with given technical responsibility of the line function and official processes
  • Distribution of correct and relevant information/data to the project team and involved departments in time to facilitate vital project engineering
  • All technical interfaces during project execution within assigned subject area

Impact

You will make a significant impact on project fulfillment according to actual order calculation, project performance according to actual time schedule and with specified quality, and declaring well before deadline if a commitment cannot be fulfilled on time.

You will also strive to achieve the highest possible customer satisfaction from a technical point of view, keeping the PM and other project members well-advised when vital, presenting suggestions of improvement, planning hours vital to handle for the project, and leading relevant technical area within the project regarding resources, time schedule, order calculation, and technical issues.

Startup, lead, and coordinate the appointed technical engineering team for the project according to applicable processes, instructions, and guidelines. Coordinate and continuously ensure the fulfillment of relevant technical specifications and other applicable contractual documents for the project to minimize deviations between actual project scope and customer expectations.

Coordinate engineering activities in the project to fulfill applicable engineering based on sprint time schedules and project main time schedule with maintained handover date to customer. Coordinate technical correspondence and discussions with customer, consortium partners, and others involved in accordance with project requirements.

Verify and summarize deviations/risks (internal and external) from a technical and economical point of view for assigned technical area to minimize risks for the project. Verify, prognose, and advise PM, CPM, and Dept-M about deviations in the order calculation for assigned part during startup of the project but also on a quarterly basis.

Verify and advise PM about deviations between contract (technical specifications or other relevant documents) and actual project status (engineering). Assist the PM and CPM with technical recommendations for external claims and possible change orders within the project.

Spread knowledge of the contract to others involved in the project and try to improve the use of standard in the delivery. Keep a good relationship with the customer, in general, but especially from a technical point of view by acting promptly and on time to fulfill given promises and agreements made with the customer.

Encourage involved team members with a positive demeanor.

The following activities, within respectively subject area, can be considered as normal for a PLE/EPM band are normally, with a few exceptions and based on scope, occurring in all projects:

  • Be a member of the customer core team and remain in the core team until handover of the project to the service department
  • Handling technical questions/issues from the customer promptly and on time in accordance with given promises in order to keep the customer satisfied.
  • Prepare technical information/documentation including needed working hours for additional sales possibilities
  • Coordinate involved engineering resources
  • Clarify and report deviations between intended scope and customer contract, technical risks, and possibilities within customer contract.
  • Prepare technical project database (TPD) by reading and understanding customer contract
  • Initiate vital setup of Comos and PLM
  • Invite to, prepare, and lead engineering startup meeting and engineering planning meeting, weekly engineering meetings, and design freeze meeting
  • Prepare, participate, supply with input, and lead parts of technical clarification review

Requirements

You will need to have a Graduate in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with a proven track record of 15-20 years in the Energy/Oil&Gas domain, mainly working with Gas Turbines. You should have proven experience of 5+ years in project execution as a Lead and proven understanding on softwares like PLM2020, Teamcenter, SAP. Knowledge or Certification in Lean and Six Sigma, PMP are preferred.
