Expert Database Engineer - Global Opportunities

The role of Expert Database Engineer is to lead and manage database environments across global payment solutions. Key responsibilities include designing, implementing, and administering robust, scalable, and secure database architectures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement robust, scalable, and secure database architectures.
  • Administer production, pre-production, UAT, and development environments.
  • Implement and enforce database security standards and best practices.
  • Drive automation efforts to reduce manual tasks and improve deployment consistency.
  • Perform database performance tuning, backup, and recovery.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot issues related to locks, waits, replication, and performance.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to other engineers.
  • Collaborate with global, cross-functional teams on database solutions and initiatives.
  • Align database engineering practices with business strategies and objectives.
  • Participate in database capacity planning and high availability strategies.
  • Evaluate and improve replication strategies using Oracle GoldenGate, DataGuard, and PostgreSQL xDB.

Requirements:

  • Advanced experience in Oracle and PostgreSQL administration (Required).
  • Expert-level knowledge of database installation, instance creation, space management, and recovery.
  • Strong understanding of database internals, SQL tuning, and troubleshooting complex issues.
  • Proficient in Oracle replication technologies including GoldenGate and DataGuard.
  • Strong experience with PostgreSQL patching, upgrades, replication (physical/logical), and performance tuning.
  • Understanding of xDB replication, including configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Expertise in high availability architectures such as Oracle RAC.
  • Familiar with partitioning and sharding implementation and design.
  • Deep knowledge of backup and recovery strategies for Oracle and PostgreSQL.
  • Skilled in logical and physical data modeling for both structured and unstructured data.
  • Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional project teams and architectural planning.
  • Strategic understanding of how database engineering supports business processes.
