Cloud Infrastructure Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Infrastructure Specialist to play a crucial role in the evaluation and transformation of existing enterprise cloud setups for our clients. Your goal will be to drive improvements in availability, scalability, security, and infrastructure automation.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing and implementing cloud architectures using GCP services such as VPC, subnets, Cloud NAT, Load Balancing, Cloud DNS, IAM, Service Accounts, Secrets Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess client GCP environments to identify areas for improvement and provide clear recommendations
  • Implement changes safely using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) where possible
  • Design and modify architectures using GCP services such as VPC, subnets, Cloud NAT, Load Balancing, Cloud DNS, IAM, Service Accounts, Secrets Manager
  • Build and run workloads on Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) and/or Compute Engine; containerise where sensible; tune autoscaling
  • Configure Cloud SQL / Spanner / Memorystore / BigQuery as relevant; backup/restore, HA/DR patterns
  • Set up Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) with policy checks and environment promotion
  • Implement monitoring and alerting with Cloud Monitoring & Logging; set Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and error budgets where appropriate
  • Harden security and advise on compliance
  • Optimise costs by rightsizing resources, implementing committed use discounts, and managing storage lifecycle
Requirements:
  • 4+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure with 3+ years on GCP
  • Deep knowledge of VPC design, routing/NAT, load balancing, IAM, GKE/containers, Linux fundamentals
  • Experience introducing controls such as org policies, folder/project structure, billing budgets/alerts, SCC
  • Proven ability to work independently, communicate clearly, and deliver safely in regulated/enterprise contexts
  • Excellent English oral communication skills

This is a remote, part-time, on-demand engagement with flexible hours. Occasional short-notice work during client change windows may be required.
