Job Overview

This role is responsible for creating and maintaining software applications for our products or families of products. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will provide complex code modification, testing and debugging tasks. You will also provide high-level analysis related to software design and development and solve problems.

Key Responsibilities

Design and Code Complex Units/Modules/Products

You will design and code complex units/modules/products that meet functional and business requirements on schedule and within budget. This involves analyzing business needs, identifying technical requirements, and implementing software solutions.

Perform Unit/Module Testing

You will perform unit/module testing of software to find errors and confirm programs meet specifications. This includes writing test plans, executing tests, and reporting defects.

Fix Bugs, Add Enhancements, and Convert Software

You will fix bugs, add enhancements, and convert software to other platforms. This requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective problem-solving abilities.

Collaborate with Quality Assurance Team

You will collaborate with quality assurance team by providing assistance to testers and support personnel as needed to determine system problems. This includes working closely with the QA team to identify and resolve issues.

Evaluate Impact of Software Performance

You will evaluate impact of software performance and recommend changes to software design team. This requires in-depth knowledge of software architecture, programming languages, and operating systems.

Write and Maintain Documentation

You will write and maintain documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, testing, changes, and corrections. This includes creating user manuals, technical guides, and release notes.

Develop Plans Outlining Steps and Time Tables

You will develop plans outlining steps and time tables for developing programs and communicate plans and status to management and other development team members. This includes creating project schedules, resource allocation plans, and risk management plans.

Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $180,000 per year

Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree or global equivalent in Computer Science or related discipline required. Typically 5 or more years of experience (3 to 5 years with a Master's Degree) in software development.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Programming Skills

C/C++ programming on Linux platform required. Strong understanding of Linux programming knowledge (e.g., IPC, multithreading, socket, debugging). Familiarity with one of these scripting languages (Shell, Perl, Python).

System Administration

Familiarity with Linux system including system boot, system configuration, file system, device management.

Experience

Experience with storage/backup software development a plus. Experience with Linux driver development, Linux kernel, AWS, or Azure a plus.

Soft Skills

Advanced design/debugging/coding skills. Self-driven and motivated employee. Complex problem-solving skills. Good communication skills in English (presenting, written, and verbal). Ability to learn, understand, and work in large, complex projects. Awareness of language and cultural issues related to localization of software.
