Job Title: Interior Cockpit Engineer

This is a leadership role within our team that involves the management of sub-systems and deliverables for all aspects of defined components or systems within the cockpit console commodities and interior trims.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading cross-functional meetings to ensure appropriate representation and input from all relevant areas, progressing design maturity from initial concept through to engineering sign-off, and ensuring regulatory compliance of system, sub-system, and components.

  • Proven project management capability demonstrated by recent delivery in line with time, cost, quality & attribute targets.
  • Proven and extensive experience in right first-time development and integration of at least one of the following – cockpit console commodities and interior trims – IP & Console , Ducts , Vents, Topper Pads Glove box Diver panels, cup holder, Arm rest etc
  • Detailed Engineering knowledge of design, function, performance, production & manufacturing requirements.
  • Ability to manage and challenge system, sub-system and component costs through utilization of engineering knowledge and decision-making process.
  • Excellent communication skills, with demonstrable ability of communicating with cross functional teams and influencing at all levels.
  • PC Literacy: Microsoft Project, Power Point, Excel, Word etc.
  • Significant experience in use of engineering tools - FMEA, Agile or Scrum (Six Sigma will be added advantage)
Key Responsibilities:
  • This position is responsible for establishing, planning and running the engineering sub system meetings to ensure appropriate cross functional representation and input from all relevant areas.
  • Ensure progression of design maturity from initial concept through to Engineering Sign-Off and design gateways.
  • Establishing and maintain the teamwork plan aligned to vehicle program.
  • Ensure Regulatory compliance of system, sub-system and components.
  • Define appropriate engineering targets to meet function, quality & attribute requirements for the Vehicle Program. Ensure system, sub-system and components meet cost and weight targets.
  • Develop and maintain the design validation plan (DVP) including both in-house and supplier testing plan and ensure development signoff tests are completed on schedule.
  • Develop System Design Specifications incorporating engineering standards, test procedures and material specifications.
  • Lead Failure Mode Avoidance activities including DFMEA, quality history reviews and DFA/D FM reviews.
  • Lead the resolution of design, attribute or packaging incompatibilities through the appropriate cross-functional meetings.
  • Management of Supplier (s) to ensure system/component delivery to vehicle program timing and attribute targets.
  • Support Purchasing team in Sourcing and RFQ activities including the creation of ESOWs, CAD SOWs, PDSs and ESIs.
  • Support vehicles launch and pre-production builds (both virtual and physical).
  • Ensuring the effective application of APQP to manage system/component delivery.
  • Ensure delivery of PSW, through planning from project start to sign off.
  • Follow and deliver company goals and strategies.
  • Ensure system, sub-system and components meets DVA, Optical and Perceived Quality targets.

Degree in Mechanical/Production/Automotive Engineering required.
