Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Azure Solutions Architect with a strong background in database optimization and Data Lake solutions. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Azure cloud services, particularly in designing, implementing, and optimizing database systems, as well as managing and utilizing Azure Data Lake for large-scale data storage and analytics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions on Microsoft Azure.
  • Develop cloud architecture and implementation roadmaps aligned with business objectives.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate Azure services to meet the specific needs of projects, including computing, storage, networking, and security.

Database Optimization:

  • Assess existing database systems (SQL and NoSQL) for performance issues and recommend optimization strategies.
  • Implement best practices for database design, indexing, query optimization, and storage management.
  • Migrate on-premises databases to Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, or other cloud-based database services.
  • Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and backup strategies for critical databases.

Azure Data Lake Management:

  • Architect, deploy, and manage Azure Data Lake Storage solutions to store large-scale structured and unstructured data.
  • Develop and implement strategies for efficient data ingestion, transformation, and retrieval in the Data Lake.
  • Work with data engineers to optimize data pipelines and improve data processing performance.
  • Implement security best practices for data governance, access control, and encryption within the Data Lake environment.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:

  • Work closely with data scientists, data engineers, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to development teams on Azure best practices, design patterns, and architectural standards.
  • Collaborate with security teams to ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.

Continuous Improvement and Innovation:

  • Stay updated with the latest Azure services, tools, and technologies to continuously improve and optimize cloud solutions.
  • Lead initiatives to automate processes, improve deployment efficiency, and reduce operational overhead.
  • Conduct performance monitoring and tuning, and implement changes to enhance system performance.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience as a Solutions Architect or in a similar role with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure.
  • Extensive experience in database optimization, including SQL Server, Azure SQL Database, and NoSQL databases.
  • Proven experience with Azure Data Lake Storage, Data Lake Analytics, and related Azure services.
  • Experience with data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing in cloud environments.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Azure services such as Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, and Azure Blob Storage.
  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture patterns, microservices, and serverless computing.
  • Knowledge of security best practices in cloud computing, including identity management, encryption, and compliance.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools like ARM templates, Terraform, or Azure DevOps.
  • Familiarity with programming and scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, C#) is a plus.

Certifications:

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
  • Additional certifications in database management or data engineering are a plus.
