Job Description:

We are seeking a highly technical leader to drive product vision and manage a team of 10-15 engineers. The role requires strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to mentor and grow team members.

The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of Backstage and internal developer platforms, with experience in platform engineering or similar fields. They will be able to influence and inspire team members to deliver high-quality outcomes, while also defining a vision for the team in alignment with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & People Management:
    • Mentor and manage a team of software engineers.
    • Set performance objectives and conduct reviews to support career growth.
    • Influence and inspire team members to deliver high-quality outcomes.
    • Define a vision for the team in alignment with organizational goals.
  • Technical Ownership:
    • Drive the product vision and contribute to platform development, with a focus on IDPs.
    • Collaborate with development, architecture, solutions, and QA teams to ensure software systems meet standards of scalability, stability, testability, and performance.
  • Accountability & Execution:
    • Take ownership of team performance and delivery outcomes.
    • Address resource and operational challenges, and suggest process improvements or new approaches.
  • Communication:
    • Provide clear and timely updates to team members and stakeholders.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Strong hands-on technical background with experience in platform engineering or IDPs (Backstage preferred).
  • 100% technical professional, with a willingness to manage and grow a team.
  • Proven ability to influence, motivate, and drive results through others.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate and resolve complex issues.
