Senior Bioinformatics Scientist

Our company is revolutionizing recombinant protein production using our novel platform, an optimized system that utilizes insects as miniature biofactories instead of conventional cell culture methods. This game-changing technology enables complex protein production at a fraction of the cost and time.

We are on the verge of a major breakthrough and are seeking a Senior Scientist to join our R&D team and drive our bioinformatics initiatives. The successful candidate will report directly to the VP of R&D and serve as the central point of expertise across multiple verticals.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Providing DNA gene or protein sequence insights for new proteins of choice, coordinating with contractual gene synthesis partners for gene sequence validation and codon optimisation.
  • Supporting comparative genomics and virus–host interaction studies to enhance the platform.
  • Advising on recombinant protein–host protein interactions, protein tagging and purification strategies.
  • Recommending appropriate kits, antibodies and assays through protein–protein interaction studies.

Some challenges in this role include:

  • Codon Optimisation for Novel Insect Host Expression.
  • Promoter & Enhancer Sequence Identification and Prediction.
  • Viral Vector Stability and Sequence Optimisation.
  • Post-Translational Modification (PTM) Mapping in Novel Insect Host.
  • In-Silico Screening for Expression Bottlenecks.

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • A PhD/Master's in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or related field.
  • 5 years of hands-on experience in running bioinformatics pipelines for Protein/DNA analysis.
  • Expertise in genetics, genomics, proteomics and protein modelling databases.
  • Preferred coding background in Python, R, Perl or similar with ability to adapt and work with outsourced software developers.
  • Experience in protein sequence analysis, codon optimisation and comparative genomics.
  • Familiarity with AI tools in bioinformatics preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently while coordinating with multiple teams.
