Job Title: Plant Reliability Engineer

The Role of a Plant Reliability Engineer is critical in the pharmaceutical industry.

A Plant Reliability Engineer is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of all plant utilities, mechanical and electrical systems, and equipment across the facility.

This includes preventive and breakdown maintenance, project execution, equipment qualification, and compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and safety regulations.

The Plant Reliability Engineer leads a cross-functional team to ensure operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and minimal downtime of all critical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and execute routine and non-routine maintenance activities to prevent equipment failures and optimize system performance.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive preventive maintenance program, including scheduling, inventory management, and tracking of maintenance activities.
  • Lead installation, commissioning, and qualification (ICQ) of new equipment and systems, ensuring they meet GMP and safety standards.
  • Manage high and low voltage electrical systems, including transformers, switchgear, panels, cabling, and substations, to minimize energy losses and ensure continuous operation.
  • Supervise mechanical utilities and process equipment like HVAC systems, purified water systems, and other critical utilities, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime.
  • Coordinate and review project schedules, equipment factory acceptance tests, drawings, bill of quantities, and vendor documentation to ensure timely completion and quality delivery.
  • Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with GMP, safety, and environmental standards, and implement corrective actions when deviations occur.
  • Prepare and review maintenance documentation, progress reports, standard operating procedures, and ensure timely invoice processing.
  • Liaise with vendors, contractors, and cross-functional departments to support project execution and plant operations, promoting a culture of collaboration and open communication.
  • Implement and improve maintenance best practices, cost control, and reliability strategies to drive business growth and competitiveness.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Root Cause Analysis: Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve underlying issues in equipment failures and system inefficiencies.
  • Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS): Experience with CMMS software for tracking, planning, and optimizing maintenance activities.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Accuracy in maintaining technical documentation, audit readiness, and regulatory compliance records.
  • Energy Management Awareness: Understanding of energy-efficient practices and optimization of utility consumption.
