Overview

This role is designed for a seasoned database professional seeking to leverage their expertise in database development, administration, and management.

  • The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases, including Apache Cassandra.
  • They will also possess expertise in SQL, PL/pgSQL, stored procedures, functions, triggers, views, JSON, and ETL concepts.
  • Familiarity with PostGIS and geospatial concepts is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain complex database systems, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and data integrity.
  • Collaborate with application developers to provide guidance on database schema design, code review, and SQL query tuning.
  • Manage database installations, upgrades, and migrations, ensuring seamless transitions and minimal downtime.
  • Develop and deploy SQL patches, addressing performance issues and optimizing database operations.
  • Improve database security, implementing robust access controls and encryption mechanisms as needed.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies, applying knowledge to drive innovation and growth.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience working with PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Expert-level SQL, PL/pgSQL, and related skills.
  • Strong understanding of ETL concepts, PostGIS, and geospatial data.
  • Experience with time series databases and message queuing systems.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
