Job Title: Senior Process Safety and HSE Engineer

Industry: Oil & Gas, Engineering Design

Experience: 5-15 Years

Key Responsibilities:

Process Safety:

  • Lead and facilitate Hazardous Operations and Walkthroughs (HAZOP), Hazard Identification (HAZID), and Safely Integrating Layers of Protection Analysis (SIL/LOPA) studies
  • Prepare/review safety philosophies, fire risk assessments, Design Safety Requirements (DSRs), and hazardous area classification
  • Develop Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA), Failure Effects Analysis (FERA), Essential Sectors Security Assessment (ESSA), and other safety studies with third parties if needed
  • Review Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), layouts, and equipment specs from a safety design perspective
  • Support design reviews, management of change, and alarm rationalization

HSE Management:

  • Support Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) plans, risk assessments, and method statements for projects
  • Conduct site HSE inspections, toolbox talks, and compliance checks during construction or commissioning
  • Ensure adherence to international HSE standards Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), ISO 45001, and ISO 14001
  • Lead or support incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
  • Drive a positive safety culture across project teams and subcontractors

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical/Process/Environmental/Safety Engineering
  • 8+ years in process safety and HSE preferably in EPC/design/project environments
  • Strong knowledge of process safety management, risk assessment, and HSE regulations
  • Proficient in tools like PHAST, PHA-Pro, BowTieXP, and DNV software
  • Certifications National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) International General Certificate (IGC)/Process Safety Management (PSM), TÜV Functional Safety, or equivalent preferred
