About the Role:

The role of Assistant Engineering Manager involves strategic planning and execution of certification and compliance activities related to various national and international regulatory bodies, including DGCA, FAA, EASA, CEMILAC, Green & Blue UAS, and third-party laboratory tests. This position also requires studying and implementing relevant regulations with respect to certification and compliance requirements of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) in civil and defense sectors.

This role involves close collaboration with internal stakeholders, such as Product Management, V&V, E&E, SW, Design, Development, Prototype, Production, Certification Bodies, DGCA, QCI, BIS, DFI, AUVSI, CEMILAC, and external test laboratories.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with internal stakeholders to gain a deep understanding of products, test requirements; develop requirement proposals and execution plans along with budgetary and timeline requirements.
  • Study and understand tender documents, scheme documents, compliance standards, drone rules, and generate test requirements proposal and obtain agreements with internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure correct Technical Certificate (TC) documentation, test executions, TC audits, and cooperation with Certification Bodies (CB) for expeditious releases of Software Components (SoCs).
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders like CB/AET, DGCA, and QCI to educate them on product environment and compliances.
  • Effective communication and collaboration with CB, DGCA, QCI, CEMILAC, DFI, BIS, etc.
  • Timely study of regulatory drafts and feedbacks in the interest of IdeaForge. Analyze international regulations and prepare presentations and compliance roadmaps.
  • Create and maintain a certification roadmap in cooperation with Product Management and adhere to its execution.
  • Plan and execute periodic internal audits to identify and analyze compliance risks and implement mitigation measures with respective departments.
  • Budgetary planning for departmental activities.
  • Team management, Key Result Areas (KRAs), and appraisals.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aeronautical/Mechanical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 10-15 years of experience in technical compliance, with at least 5 years in the UAS industry.
  • Exceptional understanding and hands-on experience working with regulatory frameworks - national/international.
  • Proven experience in product testing, process analysis, and certification activities.
