HPC professionals play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of High-Performance Computing (HPC) and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) clusters. Their primary goal is to guarantee optimal performance, scalability, and security of these systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cluster Management: Administration of HPC and VDI clusters, including user account management, cluster maintenance, and upgrades. This entails ensuring compliance with industry standards and company policies.
  • AMI Management: Creation and maintenance of Amazon Machine Image (AMI) accounts, guaranteeing adherence to regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Linux Expertise: Installation, configuration, and maintenance of Linux operating systems on HPC clusters, ensuring optimal performance and stability. This includes troubleshooting system issues and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Component Support: Supporting HPC necessary components and native services, collaborating with respective providers such as CycleCloud and AWS Parallel Cluster.
  • Security and Compliance: Implementing and maintaining necessary compliance controls, conducting regular audits, and implementing corrective actions as required. This ensures secure authentication and authorization across the platform.
  • Platform Upgrades: Continuous upgrades to the HPC platform and related components, including OS, Java, Python, and EFPortal. This involves testing and validating new features to ensure seamless integration.
  • Collaboration: Collaborating with other teams, such as the v-drive team, in testing and migrating/installing engineering applications to the platform.
  • Scheduler Optimization: Managing job schedulers like Slurm or LSF, optimizing resource utilization and reducing wait times.
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshooting system issues and providing technical support to users, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum productivity.
  • System Monitoring: Monitoring system performance and ensuring optimal operation of the HPC environment, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as needed.
