About the Role
A Senior Data Engineer is a mid-level professional responsible for leading the design, build and evolution of in-house data platforms. This includes overseeing the construction of datasets requested by various stakeholders, building and maintaining resulting data pipelines, and collaborating closely with data analysts, data scientists and business application development teams to deliver data solutions.
This role offers a hybrid work model, allowing employees to balance flexibility and face-to-face collaboration. The employee will be required to be present in the office on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays each week, with the option to work remotely on other days based on manager approval and business needs.
The Senior Data Engineer will be responsible for:
- Analyzing relevant internally and externally sourced data (raw data) to generate BI and Advanced Analytics datasets based on stakeholder requirements
- Designing data pipelines to curate sourced data into the in-house data warehouse
- Designing data marts to facilitate dataset consumption out of the in-house data warehouse by business and IT internal stakeholders
- Designing data model changes that align with the in-house data warehouse standards
- Defining migration execution activities to move data from existing database solutions to the in-house data warehouse
The Senior Data Engineer will also be responsible for regular housekeeping of raw data and data stored in the in-house data warehouse, building and maintaining data pipelines and data platforms, building data solution prototypes, exploring ways to enhance data quality and reliability, identifying and realizing opportunities to acquire better data (raw data), developing analytical tooling to better support BI and Advanced Data Analytics activities, executing data migration from existing databases to the in-house data warehouse, and promoting and championing data engineering standards and best-in-class methodology.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related quantitative discipline from a top-tier university, certified in AWS Data Engineer Specialty or AWS Solution Architect Associate, Snowflake SnowPro Core Certification, at least 7 years of experience in data engineering or a similar role, preferably in the financial industry, strong understanding or practical experience of at least one common Enterprise Agile Framework, strong understanding of ETL, data warehouse and BI(Qlik) and Advanced Data Analytics concepts, deep knowledge of cloud-enabled technologies, experience with databases and data warehouses, strong programming skills with advanced knowledge of Java and/or Python, practical experience with ETL tools, strong critical-thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills, and excellent communication skills with a team-oriented approach.
