We are seeking a skilled chemist to develop and analyze chemistry problems for large language models. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Chemistry or a related field and possess strong research and analytical skills.

The successful applicant will create chemistry problems, review how the AI solves them, and share insights on how well it understands complex reasoning and logical steps. They will also take on tasks such as:

  • A coal gasifier operating at high temperature uses a feed of steam and air to produce synthesis gas from pure carbon. Given the feed composition and operating conditions, calculate the equilibrium concentration of a specific gas in the output stream at 1000 K.
  • Two elementary gas-phase reactions occur in a plug flow reactor with stoichiometric feed and known operating and coolant conditions. Develop a reactor model to estimate the maximum temperature reached, assuming constant external coolant temperature.

The position requires a strong ability to provide clear, constructive feedback with examples and excellent written communication skills, especially in remote settings. A stable computer and internet access are also necessary.

This is a contractor assignment/freelancer role with a duration of one month. The time commitment required is at least 4 hours per day and minimum 20 hours per week with 4 hours of overlap with PST.

This project involves testing the reasoning capabilities of large language models in chemistry. We are looking for experts who can develop and analyze chemistry problems to refine these models.
