Job Overview: We are a non-profit research and development organization focused on discovering and developing innovative therapeutics, diagnostics, and devices for diseases with significant socio-economic impact. Our research has led to the creation of a portfolio of therapeutics in various stages of development, from early discovery to late-stage clinical trials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute synthetic routes to prepare small molecules for drug discovery programs
  • Track structure-activity relationships (SAR) and optimize potency, selectivity, and properties of small molecules
  • Perform purification and structural characterization of compounds
  • Troubleshoot synthetic problems and optimize reaction conditions
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior colleagues
  • Maintain accurate lab records and contribute to technical reports
  • Collaborate with analytical teams as needed
  • Provide input on intellectual property activities

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or a related field
  • Postdoctoral experience in organic chemistry/medicinal chemistry (optional)
  • 0-4 years of hands-on experience in working on bench, preferably in an industry

Technical Skills:

  • Skilled in multistep organic synthesis, reaction optimization, and compound isolation
  • Proficient in chromatography (TLC, column, flash), spectroscopic analysis (NMR, LC-MS, HPLC), and purification techniques (recrystallization, precipitation, others)
  • High level of creativity and productivity with strong synthetic chemistry problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated excellence in organic synthesis, conversant with current literature
  • Effective oral and scientific/technical writing communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Commitment to lab safety and adherence to safety protocols
  • Familiarity with reaction databases (e.g., Reaxys, SciFinder)
  • Proficiency using MS Office applications
