Mechanical Design Specialist

The Mechanical Design Specialist is responsible for ensuring the execution of mechanical works aligns with approved engineering designs and industry standards.

This role acts as a bridge between the Head Office Mechanical Design Team and Site Execution Team, providing real-time design support for site-specific modifications in module mounting structures (MMS), trackers, and mechanical layouts.

  • Review and interpret mechanical design drawings issued by HO (MMS, trackers, layout, fabrication drawings, assembly details).
  • Prepare/modify site-specific mechanical drawings when required (MMS foundation depth adjustments, structure alignment changes, fabrication detailing, anchoring).
  • Conduct wind load and structural stability checks for site-specific conditions.
  • Verify MMS foundation positions, tilt angles, and row spacing as per design.
  • Support fabrication, welding, and erection quality checks against approved standards.
  • Provide design clarifications/modifications at site and coordinate with HO for approvals.
  • Issue red-marked drawings/as-built drawings after execution.
  • Coordinate with civil and electrical teams to resolve interdisciplinary design issues.
  • Support site teams in resolving mechanical erection bottlenecks (torque requirements, alignment, module clamping).
  • Maintain proper documentation of design revisions, approvals, and as-built records.

Key requirements include proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar design/drafting tools, strong knowledge of MMS, trackers, and steel structures used in solar projects, understanding of IS/IEC codes, wind load standards, welding/fabrication practices, and ability to perform basic structural calculations for MMS and support structures.

A B.E./B.tech in Mechanical Engineering is mandatory, along with 5–8 years of experience in mechanical design and site execution (solar/renewable/industrial projects preferred).
