Senior Engineering Director

About the Role:

The Senior Engineering Director will lead a team of AI engineers, platform engineers, and product managers to drive innovation. This role requires setting clear goals, mentoring team members, and fostering a culture of impact, collaboration, and rapid learning.

The team will work together to implement agile processes prioritizing speed without sacrificing quality or security. They will collaborate closely with customers to understand and address their AI safety challenges by engaging directly with customer teams to comprehend their innovation objectives, pain points, and safety requirements.

The goal is to deliver tools and services ensuring AI applications are aligned, robust, interpretable, and safe. This includes overseeing the development of platforms for alignment assessments, adversarial testing, drift detection, and interpretability analysis. The team will also make informed build vs. buy decisions to optimize speed and customer integration.

Key responsibilities include establishing and enforcing secure coding practices, automation, monitoring, and infrastructure-as-code. The team will ensure system reliability through defined SLAs, SLOs, rigorous testing, and clear operational dashboards.

Requirements:

  • 12+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years managing technical teams or complex projects.
  • Proven track record delivering AI, ML, or data-intensive platforms or services (e.g., model evaluation platforms, MLOps systems, AI safety tools).
  • Demonstrated success in team leadership, coaching, and talent development.
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration and communication skills, bridging technical concepts with customer value.

Preferred technical experience includes exposure to platforms like LangChain, LangGraph; experience with distributed systems (Spark/Flink); familiarity with AI regulatory frameworks or secure deployment standards (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001).

About You:

To be successful in this role, you should have a strong background in software engineering, excellent leadership skills, and experience working with AI technologies. Your ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders will be crucial in driving business outcomes.

A minimum of 12 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years of experience managing technical teams or complex projects is required. Additionally, you should have a proven track record of delivering AI, ML, or data-intensive platforms or services.
