Big Data Architect

Overview:

We seek an experienced Big Data Architect to guide clients through their data modernization journey.

Our team works with ambitious companies creating innovative products in new markets. We embed ourselves within our clients' development and data teams as senior engineers, bringing leading-edge technologies, creative thinking, and mindsets to help them reach their full potential with data.

In this role, you will be the primary point of contact for clients, helping them modernize their data infrastructures, architecture, and pipelines on a daily basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Consulting clients on cloud-first strategies for core data initiatives
  • Providing thought leadership on process and technical matters
  • Becoming a champion and trusted advisor to clients on all aspects of data engineering
  • Designing, developing, deploying, and supporting modernized data strategies, including infrastructure, collection, transmission, processing, and analytics
  • Mentoring client teams to keep them up-to-date with the latest approaches, tools, and skills

Required Experience and Skills:

  • MUST hold Microsoft Certified Azure Data Engineer Associate or Fabric Data Engineer Associate certification
  • MUST have experience working in consulting or contracting capacity in large data management and modernization programs
  • Experience with SQL Servers, data engineering on platforms like Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Data Lake, and Synapse
  • Strong knowledge of Delta Lake and Lakehouse Architecture
  • Strong knowledge of securing Azure environment, such as RBAC, Key Vault, and Azure Security Center
  • Extensive experience using Kafka and Spark in production environments
  • Strong DBA experience in large-scale MS SQL environments deployed in Azure
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve issues quickly
  • Knowledge of Scala or Python programming languages
  • Linux administration and networking expertise
  • Scripting skills and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience using PowerShell, Bash, and ARM templates
  • Understanding of security and corporate governance issues related to cloud-first data architecture and industry solutions
  • Experience enabling continuous delivery for development teams using scripted cloud provisioning and automated tooling
  • Agile development methodology experience
  • Sound business judgment and leadership skills
