Senior DevOps Engineer

We are developing a personal finance application for Gen Z. Our mission is to provide actionable money decisions—fast, private, and helpful.

This involves standing up our AWS backbone: API Gateway (HTTP) + WAF → ALB → ECS Fargate , SQS (+DLQs) , EventBridge . We own the data plane: Aurora PostgreSQL (Serverless v2) + RDS Proxy , ElastiCache Redis , S3 , VPC endpoints. Auth at the edge is implemented with Cognito (MFA/SMS via SNS/Pinpoint), JWT validation, rate limits/throttling. Terraform modules/environments and GitHub Actions pipelines are built with OIDC→IAM (no static keys). Observability is wired from day one: OpenTelemetry → X-Ray , CloudWatch metrics/logs, AMP/Grafana dashboards, SLOs & alerts. Safe deploys (blue/green), backups/restore drills, least-privilege IAM, KMS + Secrets Manager, log retention & lifecycle policies are also part of this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Stand up AWS infrastructure
  • Owning the data plane
  • Implementing auth at the edge
  • Building Terraform modules/environments and GitHub Actions pipelines
  • Wiring observability
  • Safe deploys and operations
Requirements:
  • 5+ years building production systems on AWS with Terraform and containers (ECS/EKS)
  • Deep hands-on with SQS patterns (idempotency, retries, DLQs) and operational Postgres
  • Strong CI/CD chops (GitHub Actions, Docker, ECR/ECS) and IAM least-privilege mindset
  • Solid understanding of networking/WAF, encryption (TLS/KMS), and observability (OTel/X-Ray/CloudWatch)
  • Pragmatic, ownership-driven, comfortable making platform decisions quickly
Nice to Have:
  • Fintech/PII experience, WAF tuning, cost controls (Budgets/Savings Plans), exposure to Node/TS or Java services in containers
