About the Job

At SEDEMAC, we are seeking an experienced Safety and Compliance Officer to join our Operations team. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable environmental, health & safety rules & regulations.

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

  • Assisting management in reviewing and updating legal registers.
  • Coordinating the submission of all EHS-related statutory returns within the designated timelines.
  • Ensuring the coordination of all EHS-related statutory inspections, including lifting tools & tackles, pressure vessels, ventilation, illumination, noise surveys, etc.
  • Maintaining accurate records of environmental releases, such as stack emission, ambient air quality monitoring, noise level, wastewater analysis, and drinking water analysis.
  • Investigating accidents and incidents, following up on corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Developing and implementing a comprehensive EHS training plan for employees.
  • Preparing and updating EHS-related policies, procedures, formats, registers, and checklists.
  • Closing out corrective actions and maintaining updated records across departments.
  • Coordinating emergency response team training and mock drills.
  • Maintaining and updating JSA (Job Safety Analysis), HIRA (Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment), aspect impact registers.
  • Coordinating regular Safety Committee meetings and plant rounds.

In addition to these key responsibilities, the ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, including:

  • Ensuring the operational readiness, maintenance, and periodic testing of portable fire extinguishers, fire hydrants, sprinklers, detection systems, MCP (Material Control Program), and PAS (Plant Alarm System) equipment.
  • Operating and troubleshooting STP (Sewage Treatment Plant).
  • Planning, coordinating, and participating in EHS audits and inspections.
  • Identifying and evaluating hazards, analyzing their risks, planning control measures, and frequently reviewing and updating them.
  • Preparing documents for JSA and HIRA.
  • Documenting safety inspections, highlighting hazardous areas/procedures, and recommending corrective actions to mitigate potential hazards.

The successful candidate will have a B.E./B.Tech./M.Sc. in Environmental Science or an Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety from MSBTE. With 8-10 years of relevant experience in environmental health and safety roles, they will be well-equipped to ensure that our operations meet the highest standards of safety and compliance.
