Job Title: Lead Interpretation Geologist

The primary objective of this position is to interpret available geological data, build a robust geological model, and generate multiple development scenarios. This role involves providing technical input to the business unit and implementing the business plan with support for planning and geo-steering of horizontal wells.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Data Review: Review stratigraphic/coal seam correlations, structural interpretation, and quality control of various geological & seam parameter maps.
  • Geo-Cellular Modeling: Build static geo-cellular models incorporating available data of the field.
  • Volumetric Estimation: Perform volumetric estimation in multiple cases capturing the range of uncertainties.
  • OGIIP Estimation: Quality control of map-based & model-based OGIIP estimations.
  • Development Scenarios: Generate alternate development scenarios w.r.t. well type, spacing, etc.
  • Well Trajectories: Review geological prognosis & well trajectories for development drilling.
  • Geo-Steering: Support Ops Geology team during geo-steering/drilling operations and provide operational decisions as required.
  • Business Development: Provide technical inputs for business development plans.
  • Data Acquisition: Responsible for planning and acquiring geological data to bridge data gaps and reduce uncertainty through enhanced field understanding.
  • Geo-Mechanical Analysis: Support pre & post-drill geo-mechanical analysis.
  • Dynamic Simulation: Support RE team during dynamic simulation.
  • CBMs: Evaluate CBM data packages from regulatory bodies/prospective sellers for block acquisition/farming-in.
  • Subsurface Deliverables: Review & quality control of subsurface deliverables from third-party/SME studies.
  • Integrated Subsurface Descriptions: Generate integrated subsurface descriptions and risk/uncertainty matrices.
  • Cross-Functional Communications: Responsible for cross-functional communications with projects, FC&A, P&C, D&C teams for all planning and execution related to operations and development.
  • Scope of Work: Review scope of works and technical evaluation/recommendations for procuring materials/services of subsurface.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

M.Sc./M.Tech or PhD in Geology

Minimum 8-12 years of relevant experience in industry working on interpretation, geo-modeling, well planning, and operations.
