Data Engineering Manager Role

At Deutsche Telekom Digital Labs, we are seeking a seasoned Cloud Data Engineering Manager to lead our engineering team in designing and implementing scalable data management and serving infrastructure on cloud. About the Role
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional who can build, lead, and manage a high-performing team of rockstar engineers. As a Data Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for end-to-end ownership of the engineering process, ensuring consistency and quality by shaping the right strategies. You will analyze other employees' tasks, carry out collaborations effectively, and act as an architect for this team, responsible for design and long-term roadmap.

Responsibilities
• Lead a team and build systems that solve complex business problems at scale.
• Work closely with product managers to understand customer needs and translate those into technical requirements.
• Build and maintain scalable data management and serving infrastructure on cloud, managing terabytes of data and integrating costs.
• Be able to build, lead, and manage a rockstar team.
• Be responsible for end-to-end ownership of the engineering process.
• Design a comprehensive target data architecture vision working closely with product, design, and development teams to plan transition towards the target vision.
• Responsible for implementation of architecture concepts in product development and services.
• Consult and engage with engineering teams to solve problems at their root cause.
• Create deliverables that provide exceptional clarity and connections to business objectives.
• Assess emerging technologies and perform proof of concepts.
• Collaborate with product teams, design teams, NatCOs, enterprise architects, and provide optimized solutions that provide business outcomes.
• Provide strategic direction and technical oversight pertaining to the implementation of new tools, technologies, and solutions.
• Set the strategic roadmap and develop development processes and strategies.
• Implement products and features to enhance the product suite.

Data Specialization
The ideal candidate will have comprehensive and expert knowledge with more than 7 years of Data Management and Data-Architectures (DWH, Spark, Lakehouse) and overall experience of 10-15 years. They will have deep understanding of concepts and principles relating to both Batch and Streaming data, as well as API/Microservices architectures, Data warehouses & Mesh Architectures.

Security and Regulatory Expertise
The selected candidate will be experienced in implementing solutions that protect sensitive and regulated Customer data and can define technically secure and regulatory sound solutions. They will also be knowledgeable about Security Architecture concepts like identity and access management, network isolation, transport protection, cloud security specifics, encryption & key management, and robust knowledge of data privacy treatment techniques.

Strong Intrapersonal Skills
We are looking for a resilient and adaptable individual who can facilitate difficult discussions within the team or with diverse senior stakeholders. The candidate should be able to explain complex topics in 'crisp, simple' language to top management and communicate effectively with both virtual architect teams and all relevant internal stakeholders and sponsors within Deutsche Telekom AG and NatCos.

What We Offer
We offer a competitive salary range of $180,000 - $220,000 per year, depending on experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
