Inventory Control Specialist

Job Summary:

The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of raw material inventory, ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate records of raw material receipts, storage, issuance, and disposal in accordance with SOPs and regulatory requirements.
  • Verify that all raw materials are properly labeled, identified, and stored to prevent errors or misplacement.
  • Conduct regular stock verifications and reconciliation of physical vs. system stock to ensure accuracy and minimize discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with Procurement, Production, and Quality teams to guarantee timely availability of raw materials without disrupting production schedules.
  • Implement a FIFO/FEFO system for material issuance to optimize inventory turnover and reduce waste.
  • Monitor storage conditions (temperature, humidity, cleanliness) to maintain material quality and prevent damage.
  • Evaluate and enforce adherence to ISO, GMP, and other regulatory requirements for raw material handling.
  • Manage documentation including GRNs, stock registers, bin cards, and SAP entries.
  • Identify slow-moving, non-moving, or expired raw materials and coordinate their proper disposal as per guidelines.
  • Support audits (internal/external) by ensuring documentation accuracy and store readiness.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Science, Commerce, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in raw material inventory management, preferably in pharmaceuticals or manufacturing industries.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Tally, or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of inventory management techniques (FIFO, FEFO, JIT).
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance related to raw material handling (ISO 13485, GMP).
