About the Role:

This is a challenging and rewarding position that requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication. As part of the CMBS team, you will conduct thorough research on loans and properties that serve as collateral for Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities (CMBS) transactions.

  • Review deal documents, analyze periodic data, and set up net cash flow templates to assess credit risk in SF securities.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze data from internal and external sources for use in criteria development, ratings, and research reports.
  • Accurately retrieve, analyze, and report on CMBS pool-level and property-level performance, identifying risky assets based on qualitative and quantitative factors.
  • Monitor and analyze macro and micro risk factors, such as market conditions, property type, tenant, and borrower, to assess exposure within CMBS pools and loan portfolios.
Key Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of underwriting processes and be able to identify opportunities for improvement. This role requires a growing understanding of the ratings value chain and the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively.

  • Analyze data and prepare periodic portfolio reports for senior staff, highlighting material changes and research causes.
  • Communicate with operations and technology teams regarding assigned tasks and priorities, ensuring applications meet defined requirements and pass user acceptance testing prior to release.
  • Take ownership of tasks with a focus on delivering high-quality, accurate results and show initiative to learn and advance within the ratings value chain.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a credit research domain, with specific knowledge of CMBS and experience at a rating agency is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, or Management Studies, with Master's degree or CFA program enrollment being additional assets.
  • Fluency in English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong attention to detail.
