About the Role

We're seeking an experienced AI Engineer to drive innovation in speech recognition, text-to-speech, and wake-word detection. The successful candidate will own the design and optimization of our speech pipelines, delivering natural, low-latency voice interactions that work seamlessly on edge devices and cloud infrastructure.

 

  • Develop and optimize speech-to-text systems for low-latency recognition using cutting-edge tools like Whisper and Vosk.
  • Implement and enhance text-to-speech systems, including multi-voice support and style variations using Coqui, Piper, and VITS.
  • Prototype and refine wake-word detection and integrate noise suppression, VAD, AGC, and audio normalization for robust performance.
  • Apply model optimization techniques like quantization, ONNX, CTranslate2, GGUF/ggml for offline/CPU-first inference.
  • Design caching, streaming, and batching strategies to meet real-time performance targets under 2 seconds response time.
  • Collaborate with backend engineers to expose APIs for integration into apps.
  • Monitor performance via observability dashboards like Prometheus/Grafana and OpenTelemetry.
  • Ensure privacy-first design with local-first processing and optional cloud fallback.

 

Requirements

The ideal candidate has a strong background in applied AI and at least 3 years of experience focused on speech technologies. Proven track record of building production-grade STT/TTS systems and expertise in Python (PyTorch), FastAPI/Docker for model serving is highly desired.
