Climatological Expert Job Description

The Climatological Expert will be responsible for establishing the climatology and atmospheric science foundation of our system.

  • Data & Modeling
  • We are seeking a skilled professional to curate and analyze climate datasets (ERA5, CMIP6, IMERG, HYCOM, CMEMS, buoy & radar archives).
  • This role requires expertise in developing methodologies for QPE (Quantitative Precip Estimation) and QCE (Quantitative Current Estimation).
  • The successful candidate will guide the assimilation of rainfall, currents, waves, and tide datasets into unified models.
  • Forecasting & Validation
  • We are looking for an individual to collaborate on the design of AI-driven rainfall and ocean current forecasts.
  • The selected candidate will establish skill metrics and validation frameworks against gauges and station networks.
  • This position supports integration of aviation climatology (turbulence, wind shear, visibility indices).
  • Domain Leadership
  • This role involves mentoring the AI/ML team on climatological best practices.
  • The expert will advise on extreme events (monsoons, cyclones, storm surges, turbulence corridors).
  • The selected candidate will represent us in collaborations with IMD, INCOIS, IITM, ECMWF, and other climate centers.
  • Impact & Translation
  • The Climatological Expert will translate scientific outputs into actionable insights for Navy, Ports, Aviation, and Disaster Management.
  • This role requires shaping dashboards, tiles, and alerts to reflect climatological reliability.
