System Engineer - Building Automation

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced System Engineer - Building Automation to oversee the design, execution, and management of building management systems for large-scale infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have expertise in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, chilled water plants, pumps, air handling units, fan coil units, valves, and utility systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee project execution and manage building management systems, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing services, and central chiller plants.
  • Coordinate design, execution, testing, and commissioning activities to ensure efficient and reliable plant and building operations.
  • Integrate building management systems platforms with chillers, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment, electrical panels, and safety systems.
  • Ensure project milestones are met as per schedule and target performance metrics.

Technical & Design Review:

  • Review building management system and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design drawings, bills of quantity, equipment specifications, and shop drawings.
  • Validate system architecture for building automation, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, chiller plant manager, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), and utility monitoring systems.

Quality & Safety Management

  • Implement quality assurance/quality control checks for equipment installation, piping, cabling, and control systems.
  • Enforce health, safety, and environment practices during site execution in compliance with safety standards.

Operations & Handover

  • Conduct performance testing of chiller plants and building management system dashboards.
  • Optimize plant operation through automation, control strategies, and energy efficiency techniques.
  • Prepare operational and maintenance manuals, as-built drawings, and training sessions for facility teams.

Mandatory Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, chilled water plants, pumps, air handling units, fan coil units, valves, and utility systems.
  • Hands-on experience in building management system integration using BACnet, Modbus, and LonWorks protocols.
  • Project execution experience in data centers, hospitals, airports, and large commercial buildings.
  • Familiarity with electrical panels, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), distributed control systems (DCSs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), uninterruptible power supplies (UPSs), diesel generators (DGs), and power monitoring systems.
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency standards and green building codes such as LEED and IGBC.
  • Expertise in project scheduling and reporting using Primavera or Microsoft Project.

Good to Have:

  • Exposure to chiller plant manager systems and optimization software.
  • Experience with Internet of Things (IoT)/Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based smart building platforms.
  • Certifications in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, building management systems, energy management, or project management (PMP/PRINCE2).
