Disaster Risk Reduction Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to lead our disaster risk reduction team and conduct disaster risk assessments. The ideal candidate will have expertise in disaster management, humanitarian response, and capacity building.

The successful candidate will identify capacity strengthening needs and provide technical handholding support to staff, humanitarian roster staff, and local partners on early recovery programs. They will also liaise with experts and coordinate to mobilize technical inputs to field programs, supporting the generation and dissemination of training modules and knowledge products.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of disaster management principles, including the Sphere minimum standards, livestock emergency guidelines, and other key humanitarian and DRR guidelines. They will also demonstrate good report preparation and presentation skills, as well as fluency in English.

To be considered for this role, candidates must hold a graduation or post-graduation degree in climate change, environmental science, or natural resource management. A minimum of 5 years of experience in working with the disaster management sector, especially in rural areas, is also required. Additionally, candidates should have fair knowledge of community-based disaster risk reduction and mitigation plans.
