Job Title: Data Scientist

As a senior data scientist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of our products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Infrastructure Setup
    • Verify server access to necessary repositories and allow inbound/outbound network traffic for seamless operations.
    • Install R, Python, Quarto, and Workbench packages on servers, enabling efficient data analysis and visualization.
  • Installation Tasks
    • Configure Workbench settings, including user management and resource limits for optimal performance.
    • Start Workbench service and ensure it runs on startup, guaranteeing continuous operation.
    • Test Workbench installation through a web browser, validating its functionality.
  • Additional Installation Tasks
    • Install Connect package and configure server URL, authentication methods, and email notifications for streamlined communication.
    • Set up SSL certificates for secure HTTP connections, protecting sensitive data.
    • Start Connect service and ensure it runs on startup, maintaining system integrity.
    • Test Connect installation by publishing content from RStudio, verifying its accuracy.
  • Package Manager Installation Tasks
    • Install Package Manager package and set up CRAN, Bioconductor, and custom package repositories, enhancing data analysis capabilities.
    • Configure access controls, including user authentication and permissions for secure data handling.
    • Start Package Manager service and ensure it runs on startup, maintaining system stability.
    • Test Package Manager setup by accessing it through a web browser and installing packages, validating its effectiveness.
  • Ongoing Maintenance Responsibilities
    • Regularly apply updates and patches to Posit products and their dependencies, ensuring security and stability.
    • Monitor license usage and renew licenses as needed, maintaining compliance.
    • Establish a support plan through internal teams or Posit support, providing ongoing assistance.
