Contracts Specialist Role Overview

As a key member of the legal team, the Contracts Specialist plays a pivotal role in streamlining commercial agreements. This ensures efficiency for revenue and smooth handling of critical documents.

  • Draft and negotiate terms and conditions for various commercial contracts, including order forms, professional service agreements, master services agreements, statements of work, data privacy agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and other agreements according to internal guidelines.
  • Solve any contract-related problems that may arise with other parties and internally within the company itself.
  • Develop creative solutions, draft alternative terms, and work closely with attorneys as appropriate.
  • Obtain approval for non-standard terms in accordance with internal policies.
  • Educate internal teams on contract terms and promote conformity and consistency in legal obligations.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of Legal administrative processes and legal documents.

This is a critical function ensuring legal compliance, document integrity, and operational excellence. The successful candidate will build trusted relationships with stakeholders, work closely with legal counsel, and gain exposure to various legal and business matters.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • University level degree or equivalent, with 4-6 years' experience negotiating legal terms & conditions directly with customers or vendors.
  • Training or education in law, negotiation, or legal writing, including certification required.
  • Familiarity with media organizations desirable.
  • Highly proficient in spoken and written English.
  • Experience working with commercial contract management and a good level of understanding of contract and commercial law.
  • Ability to manage complex issues, apply legal and financial principles to contracting, and use digital tools.
  • Adept in SharePoint, advanced skills in Word, Excel, Power Point, and comfortable working as part of a cross-functional team in a high-volume environment.
