Job Title: Database Systems Administrator

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Database Systems Administrator to join our team.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our database systems. This includes installing, upgrading, and migrating SQL Servers, as well as configuring high availability and disaster recovery solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Installation and Upgradation: Install, upgrade, and migrate SQL Servers to ensure they meet the changing needs of our organization.
  • Patch Management: Apply patches or service packs to SQL Server to ensure it remains secure and up-to-date.
  • High Availability and Disaster Recovery: Configure high availability and disaster recovery solutions to minimize downtime and ensure business continuity.
  • Alert Configuration: Configure automated alerts to notify the team of any issues with the database.
  • Incident and Change Management: Work on incidents, change tickets, and problem tickets to resolve database-related issues.
  • Maintenance Planning: Set up maintenance plans for backups, database integrity checks, rebuild indexes, update statistics, and ensure all jobs run without issues.
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot locking issues, including deadlocks, blocking, lock timeouts, and fix them to prevent data loss.
  • Bridge Calls: Participate in bridge calls to troubleshoot and fix P1 (SEV1) and P2 (SEV2) incidents.
  • Always On and DB Mirroring: Have hands-on experience with Always On and DB mirroring.
  • Database Schema Changes: Execute changes to the database schema and maintain a controlled development database environment.
  • Server Configuration: Work closely with application developers to test, configure, and optimize servers based on application demands.
  • Database Object Deployment: Handle database object deployment to Integration, QA, UAT, and Production environments.
  • Production Support: Provide day-to-day support for high OLTP HA of SQL Server databases, identify root causes of production problems, and work with developers to resolve such issues.
  • Performance Tuning: Work on performance tuning by creating missing indexes.
  • Shift Work: Willingness to work in 24X7 projects (shifts).
  • Scripting Experience: Experience in scripting using Perl and PowerShell.
  • Cloud Experience: Experience in AWS and Azure.

Added Advantage:

  • Any of the following certificates: SQL Server certifications or SQL Cloud-based solutions and experience.
About You

To be considered for this role, you should have a strong background in database administration, including experience with SQL Server, high availability, and disaster recovery. Additionally, you should have excellent communication and teamwork skills, as well as the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
