Key Responsibilities

  • Integrate climate adaptation priorities into national development frameworks, ensuring alignment with global goals and regional strategies.
  • Conduct Climate Vulnerability and Risk Assessments (CVRAs) across sectors such as agriculture, water, health, biodiversity, and coastal ecosystems to identify areas of high vulnerability.
  • Apply advanced climate models and risk analytics to inform strategic planning and prioritization of adaptation responses.
  • Identify and size adaptation measures with clear outcomes, implementation timelines, and cost estimates to ensure effective resource allocation.
  • Evaluate the techno-commercial feasibility of proposed interventions and map relevant financing sources to support project implementation.
  • Support the preparation of funding proposals for climate adaptation initiatives, including those targeting international mechanisms.
  • Facilitate inclusive stakeholder consultations, engaging government agencies, civil society, youth, women, and vulnerable groups to ensure diverse perspectives are considered.
  • Align adaptation strategies with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and national development plans to maximize impact.
  • Contribute to the design of Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) systems in line with Enhanced Transparency Framework (ETF) requirements.
  • Draft technical content for reports, presentations, and policy briefs tailored to diverse audiences to communicate complex information effectively.
  • Provide policy recommendations that strengthen climate resilience and adaptation integration to support evidence-based decision-making.
  • Collaborate with public and private sector stakeholders to support implementation and resource mobilization efforts.

Required Qualifications

  • Masters degree in climate science, environmental studies, sustainable development, natural resource management, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in climate adaptation, resilience planning, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated involvement in developing or updating Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), Long-term Low Emissions Development Strategies (LT-LEDS), or National Adaptation Plans (NAPs).
  • Proficiency in conducting CVRAs and translating findings into actionable strategies.
  • Experience working with climate models and interpreting risk projections.
  • Strong grasp of techno-commercial analysis, cost estimation, and financing pathways.
  • Familiarity with climate finance mechanisms such as the Green Climate Fund (GCF), Global Environment Facility (GEF), and bilateral donor programs.
  • Effective communication, analytical thinking, and facilitation skills.

  • Prior experience supporting national governments in climate strategy development.
  • Background in climate and sustainability consulting or advisory roles.
  • Knowledge of ecosystem-based adaptation, nature-based solutions, and coastal resilience approaches.
  • Ability to integrate gender and social inclusion into adaptation planning.
  • Skilled in translating technical analysis into policy guidance and investment strategies.
