Job Summary:

The role of Marine Purchaser involves strategic sourcing and procurement of technical equipment for vessels. Strong negotiation skills are required to secure competitive pricing and high-quality products.

Main Responsibilities
  • Procurement Strategy & Vendor Management
    • Source and procure spare parts, consumables, and technical equipment for vessels.
    • Identify and evaluate suppliers to secure competitive pricing and high-quality products.
    • Build strong relationships with vendors and service providers to ensure reliable support.
  • Order Processing & Logistics Coordination
    • Process purchase requisitions from vessels and fleet management teams efficiently.
    • Ensure accurate and timely order placement, tracking, and follow-ups.
    • Coordinate with logistics teams to arrange delivery of goods to vessels worldwide.
  • Cost Control & Budget Optimization
    • Support the monitoring and control of procurement costs.
    • Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising on quality or safety.
    • Review supplier invoices and ensure accurate documentation for payment processing.
    • Ensure timely clearance of invoices in the system.
  • Compliance & Record-Keeping
    • Ensure all procurement activities are compliant with maritime regulations and classification society requirements.
    • Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and vendor agreements.
    • Assist during audits related to procurement and inventory management.
  • Technical Support & Communication
    • Collaborate closely with vessel superintendents and technical teams to understand purchasing requirements.
    • Provide alternative solutions when specific parts or equipment are unavailable.
    • Keep vessels updated on order status and delivery timelines.
