  4. Reviews medical records to identify documentation deficiencies and provides guidance on improvement.">
  5. Serves as a subject matter expert and resource for coding staff.">
  6. Verifies documentation supports diagnoses, procedures, and treatment results.">
  7. Identifies diagnostic and procedural information and ensures accurate coding.">
  8. Audits clinical documentation and coded data to validate documentation supports services rendered for reimbursement and reporting purposes.">
  9. Assigns codes for reimbursements, research, and compliance with regulatory requirements utilizing guidelines.">
  10. Fosters coding conventions and serves as a coding consultant to care providers.">
  11. Identifies discrepancies, potential quality of care, and billing issues.">
  12. Researches, analyzes, recommends, and facilitates plans of action to correct discrepancies and prevent future coding errors.">
  13. Identifies reportable elements, complications, and other procedures.">
  14. Serves as a resource and subject matter expert to other coding staff.">
  15. Assists in orienting, training, and mentoring coding staff.">
  16. Provides ongoing training to coding staff as needed.">
