Accurate medical coding is crucial to healthcare organizations, and we are seeking a certified Medical Coder Evaluation Specialist to join our team. This role plays a vital part in the revenue cycle, requiring meticulous attention to detail and expertise in Evaluation & Management (E&M) coding guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze patient records and documentation to accurately identify services provided during evaluations and management encounters.
  • Assign appropriate E&M codes based on service levels, adhering to regulatory bodies such as CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS.
  • Maintain high accuracy and compliance with coding standards, including documentation requirements for various E&M levels.
  • Stay current with updates from regulatory bodies, including the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the American Medical Association (AMA).
  • Ensure HIPAA compliance for patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to obtain necessary information and address coding-related queries.
  • Work closely with billing and revenue cycle teams to ensure accurate claims submission and timely reimbursement.
  • Conduct regular audits and quality checks on coded medical records to identify errors or opportunities for improvement.
Requirements:
  • A Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent certification is mandatory.
  • In-depth knowledge of E&M coding principles and guidelines is required.
  • Proficiency in using coding software and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
  • Strong familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with providers and staff.
  • A strong understanding of healthcare regulations and compliance-oriented mindset.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities, with a commitment to continuous learning.
