Job Description

We are seeking a Project Director for Supply Chain Development with a business development mindset. Your core focus will be on identifying and acting on new purchasing possibilities to secure optimal sourcing setups.

As a Project Director, you will create business cases and lead implementation in accordance with assignments from different categories and stakeholders. You will also establish and develop high-performing and diverse supplier bases that meet our business and customer needs.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Optimizing our value chain to reduce costs while maintaining product quality
  • Leading and implementing new sourcing capacities within assigned areas
  • Acting as one IKEA Purchasing along core processes, collaborating with relevant functions and people to contribute towards IKEA business objectives

You will be responsible for building professional and long-term relationships with suppliers through the IKEA way of doing business. This includes shared business models, trust, and transparency.

Key qualifications for this role include:

  • Home furnishing knowledge and experience
  • Purchase or business experience with Total Cost Approach
  • Strong analytical skills and experience in supplier development
  • Relevant market/industry knowledge and project management experience
  • Indirect leadership capabilities

The ideal candidate will be an optimistic entrepreneur with a 'can-do' attitude. They will have strong engineering experience/skills from multiple industries, preferably natural fiber, metal, textile, and glass/mirror industries. The candidate should also have good insights into how the purchasing process works and be able to analyze businesses in a structured and methodical way.

About the Assignment

This role involves leading business with a holistic view, always considering the customer, supplier, total IKEA, and total cost development. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering results by involving and engaging people, identifying and capturing business opportunities, and performing business analysis, risk assessment, scenario planning, and drawing conclusions to support business decisions and implementations.

Estimated Salary Range

We offer a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
