Lease Accounting Specialist Role

We are looking for a highly skilled Lease Accounting Specialist to join our team. As a Lease Accounting Specialist, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining lease accounting schedules in compliance with ASC 842.

The successful candidate will have experience in accounting, specifically in lease accounting or real estate accounting, and will be familiar with ASC 842 and lease accounting principles. They will also possess strong technical skills, including proficiency in Excel and comfort working with large data sets.

In this role, you will prepare and post journal entries related to lease liabilities and right-of-use assets, assist with the monthly close process and account reconciliations, and coordinate with other teams such as Real Estate, Legal, and Accounts Payable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update lease accounting schedules in compliance with ASC 842
  • Prepare and post journal entries related to lease liabilities and right-of-use assets
  • Assist with the monthly close process and account reconciliations
  • Coordinate with Real Estate, Legal, and Accounts Payable teams
  • Monitor critical lease dates and ensure timely updates

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Accounting Experience: 1-3 years of experience in accounting, with exposure to lease accounting or real estate accounting
  • ASC 842 Knowledge: Familiarity with ASC 842 and lease accounting principles
  • Technical Skills: Strong Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets
  • Lease Accounting Software: Familiarity with lease accounting software like Yardi, CoStar, or Lucernex
