Job Title: Java Operations Specialist

The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of Java-based services, ensuring their reliability and performance at scale.

About the Role

This position involves investigating runtime issues, executing emergency mitigation actions, and managing recurring operational tasks for our Java-based services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Incident Response:
    • Respond to production incidents; participate in on-call rotation for Java platform services.
    • Diagnose application-level problems (e.g., memory leaks, GC pauses, thread deadlocks, CPU bottlenecks).
    • Implement short-term fixes such as restarting services, modifying configurations, or managing deployment rollbacks.
    • Elevate critical issues to development teams or dependent stakeholders when necessary.
  • Operational Maintenance:
    • Perform regular system maintenance: framework upgrades, dependency patching, configuration validation.
    • Monitor and audit application health, performance, and availability using internal tools and dashboards.
    • Update and refine runbooks, response procedures, and documentation.
  • Collaboration & Observability:
    • Collaborate with engineering teams during production deployments or rollouts.
    • Analyze application metrics, logs, and traces to identify system issues or inefficiencies.
    • Partner with infrastructure, database, and observability teams to optimize systems for performance and reliability.
